"Never Ebb"

The River Time stately flows
   and spritely goes
within its fulsome bounds.

So many years run through her
   without measure,
their purr comes forth a roar.

From nowhere stems River Time
   in her full climb
to touch the Sea of Ages.

Through lives she makes fast her run
   and sweeps till done
the tarnished world away.

Before her speed, man is quick
   but for a tick.
She moves through him anon.

The current pulls worlds apart
   in each new start
and eddy of the tide.

The earth would sit, lazy, there
   but by the hair
the pull of time it moves.

This is one I wrote a while ago as a reflection on time. It isn't as strong as some others I've written, but it is not so ugly that I'm ashamed of it.

Great poem bro. I haven't been around lately or I would have said so sooner. The allusion through nautical terms paint a beautiful picture of time that is quite fitting. We are but a vapor.

strong? i LOVED it!!! beautiful, the first stanza reminded me of Kubla Kahn. "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea."

I'm glad you liked the piece. I must say that Kubla Khan certainly influenced me here. Thanks for the +fav and the +watch. I hope you like the other works I put up as well. I try and do something very different with each poem.
